No More Bailouts!
That's enough! The first ones were too much. Let the car companies that can't make it close (it is really unions that killed them --let them reap what they sow). No more banks. No small towns. No big states. Now more insurance companies. Nothing. Let them fail. If we do not we are creating the very problem we are seeking to fix --the federal government is overextending itself and will itself fall.

Hey, we agree.
I just thought I would point out that on the bailouts, I concur 100%.
Bad idea, bad implementation.
I agree. I'm not in favor of the bailouts. Yes, I worry about the jobs and the people, but the business collapsing just seems to be the natural progression. Then again, I wasn't in favor of the bank bailouts, either.
As if Mike' post spurred Paulson on to greater stupidity, today he indicated that instead of buying troubled mortgage assests, the money is going to be used elsewhere.
They have effectively redefined the term "bank" in an effort to distrubute the money more to their liking.

This is a red-letter day.
I think I will not post anything, and just enjoy the fact that me, Nick, and the Jerseygirl agree on something.
:)
by the way, yes, Nick, you are exactly right (I didn't check the link to businessweek, yet, but I think I know where it is going).
American Express, who is more than happy to send me bills and expect me to pay them on time, decided that they cannot pay their bills, so now they are a "bank"???? and get free money?? (our tax money, by the way).
Oy vey!
thank God for ice cream (no one can take that away from us, can they?)
they may not take away your ice cream but . . .
"The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."

Wow. PETA says that? Well, that's amazing.
God said we could drink milk from cows, sooooo, I'll stick with regular ice cream and regular old mammal milk taken from cows, and be happy for it.
When I joined a gym and began reading up on nutrition (I did very well, technically I could wear my old high school jeans if I still had them) I learned that unlike other foods like plants and vegetables, milk and meat contain ALL of the amino acids necessary for muscle building- the full spectrum of what we need. That's why you don't see body builders that are vegetarians, and if they are, they do consume eggs and milk.
I also had to mull these things over when I met some vegetarians who have this "eww gross" attitude about animal foods.
You would think a vegetarian would be super healthy but no, they're not unless they are super careful. There are nutrients they live without because you can't get them anywhere but from an animal.
I am an ardent supporter of taking milk from baby cows if that is what's necessary for ice cream.
I mean, come on, when was the last time you saw a baby cow with an ice cream cone?
Makes no sense.
